LULU'S MONSTERS
The main character is Lulu and she struggles with several things. Being pre-teen, having an annoying sister, feeling lonely, being bullied by Alice, who she describes as a monster, and not having the courage to speak up to Alice. You see, Lulu & Alice used to be friends until Lulu told Alice a secret. Typical!
Then there is the relationship with Ingrid, Lulu’s new BFF. Lulu starts to get warm feelings towards Ingrid. She writes a loveletter to Ingrid, but does she dare giving it to her?
Lulu has a diary and here you’ll get a lot of insights about Lulu’s feelings.
Lulu also has everyday chapters where she is being a pre-teen. Every time Lulu experiences something bad with Alice / Ingrid, it affects the family, especially her sister, Nono.
Nono is a side character, but the most important side character. Nono's chapters support Lulu's themes of fear, being bullied and the LGBTQ+ topic. Nono has chapters called "Slime Time", where she daydreams about stopping a monster and saving “Lulu the cat”, which of course is about getting love from her real sister Lulu.

The main themes are bullying, fear & LGBTQ+. Secondary themes are friendship, sisterlove, selflove & having dark thoughts.
The target group is 10-12 years old, 4th & 5th grade.
This book is in 3 languages: English, Danish & German.
I started the book in December 2019 and it has been through 2 revisions and a Danish school class. Part of the German version has later been read in a Swiss school class and the English version has been read by friends, family & nice helpful strangers.
I have now decided to self-publish and sell it here on my webshop. This will get me closer to my goal; getting the book out to kids, so they can read it, have new thoughts about these important topics and hopefully talk with others about them.
